Photograph of rare 17th century book of poetry by William Shakespeare and other English authors from the collection of the Folger Shakespeare Library in Washington, DC. The 1640 frontispiece page features an engraving portrait of the Bard who was poet as well as greatest playwright of the English language. This rare example of Elizabethan publishing titled “Poems Written by Wil. Shake-speare” was printed in London England and later bound in leather binding with gilt decoration.
